First Order Stormtrooper

First Order Stormtrooper from Star Wars the Force Awakens. Done with a pen brush and a micro pen. This was done last year for Inktober in October 2015. Had fun with this drawing. I really dig the new helmet design.

Exploring the Dark Side: Inktober Quick Sketch of Rae Sloane

Rae Sloane Ink Drawing

From Page to Pen: Bringing Rae Sloane to Life for Inktober

For this Inktober illustration from October 2015, I did a quick sketch of Rae Sloane from Star Wars using a pen brush. At the time, I had been reading Star Wars: Aftermath where she was an admiral. Little did I know that she would become a big deal in the First Order too.

Normally, I would have penciled the drawing before inking, but for Inktober, I decided to follow the original rules by Jake Parker and go straight to inking. The result was a little stiff, but I’m still happy with it.

To give the drawing more depth, I added a black background around her head and shoulders. Overall, I enjoyed creating this ink drawing and exploring the character of Rae Sloane.

Embracing Cosmic Horror: My Cthulhu Inktober Sketch

Cthulhu Inktober Ink Sketch

For Inktober 2015, I did a quick sketch of Cthulhu using a pen brush. As a fan of cosmic horror, I had a blast drawing this iconic character. I liked playing with the details of Cthulhu’s tentacles and wings, I also added a skull-like head.

Inktober 2014, Day 3 – Sylvia Light

Inktober 2014, Day 3 – Sylvia Light

Day 3 of the Inktober challenge. I inked a redesign of my main character from First Legacy, Sylvia Light (aka Aurora Light). This is a redesign of her basic look. I’ve changed her from a long-haired blond to a short-haired, darker-skinned character. I’ve had her redesign in mine for a while, this is my first attempt to place it on paper. I used a 102 nib pen and a #3 sable brush for this inking.

Inktober 2014, Day 2 – Afro Lady

Inktober 2014, Day 2 – Afro Lady

Second day of the Inktober challenge. This time I wanted to do something a little different. A lady with a huge Afro. I placed a black shadow background to add some dimension. For this quick inking I used a 102 nib pen and a #3 sable brush. The inking tools I enjoy using the most. I feel I have more control with them. I’ll be branching out in future attempts.

Inktober 2014, Day 1 – Cyborg

Cyborg

Inktober 2014, Day 1 – Cyborg

This is my first time participating. Here’s the Day 1 inking of a random cyborg guy. With this challenge, I’m going to try different inking techniques. I used a Pentel Medium Tip Brush Pen and a Pentel Pocket Brush Pen here. The lines came out a little thicker than I’m used to. Might be inking with a heavy hand. I had fun with this one.

Alcatraz Original Inks

Alcatraz Original Inks

Here is the inking to my character of Alcatraz. This was created for the 30 charterers challenge held every November. I created a back story where for this character named Alcatraz. He is a pit fighter who dreams of escaping the fights. The only way out he believes is to never lose. Eventually, the bosses will move him out of fighting and work for them outside as an enforcer.

This inking was done on the original pencils. On 9×12 2ply Bristol paper. I use a 102 nip tip pen.
